Your Law Firm’s Local Service Ads Will Appear on Google Maps for iOS

Local Service Ads advertisers were notified today by Google about a new feature: Local Service Ads (LSAs) on Google Maps for iOS. The notification sent out today will potentially help law firms reach a broader audience. It's also not the first time Google has tested something out on iOS. In 2022, they used their iOS App to roll out new visual search features before implementing some of those new elements on desktop and general mobile search.

What Are Local Service Ads?

Local Service Ads

Local Service Ads are a specialized type of advertisement that allows law firms to appear at the top of Google search results when users look for specific services in their area. For law firms, this means having the opportunity to connect with potential clients actively searching for legal assistance. These ads are designed to highlight your business’s credentials, reviews, and contact information, making it easier for clients to reach out.

Unlike the pay-per-click Google Ads, Local Service Ads are pay-per-lead. That means you can appear on thousands of searches, have hundreds of prospects click on your ad, but only pay when a qualified lead calls on the Google tracked number.

What's New: LSAs on Google Maps for iOS

Today’s announcement marks a significant expansion of LSA placements to include Google Maps on iOS devices. Here’s what we know so far:

  • Automatic Integration: Google will use your existing ad data and user reviews on Google Maps to create these ads. There's no need to provide additional data or details, making the transition seamless.
  • Consistent Billing and Pricing: The billing and pricing for these ads will remain the same as your current Search ads. You'll only be charged for qualified leads, and your existing bids will be used.
  • No Required Action: If you’re already using LSAs, as part of your law firm marketing strategy your ads will automatically start appearing on Google Maps for iOS. However, if you prefer not to participate, you don't really have an option. The only way to opt-out is by stopping your Local Services ads altogether.

Why This Matters for Law Firms

Increased Visibility

One of the primary benefits of this update is increased visibility. Google Maps is a widely used tool, especially on mobile devices. By appearing in Google Maps searches, your law firm can be front and center when someone is looking for legal services nearby. This is particularly valuable for local firms aiming to attract clients within their geographical area.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I opt-out of LSAs on Google Maps for iOS?
If you prefer not to have your ads appear on Google Maps for iOS, the only way to prevent it is by stopping your Local Services ads entirely. It's not really an "opt-out" option; it's more of Google saying, "If you don't like it, too bad."

Will I need to pay extra for my ads to appear on Google Maps for iOS?
No, the billing and pricing for these ads will remain the same as your current Search ads. You will only be charged for qualified leads, and your existing bids will be used for the new placement on Google Maps.
